As a result of the recent developments in the spread of the Coronavirus in Arkansas, the Jonesboro School of Art has decided to temporarily close its physical location for the remainder of the semester. However, in order to continue to provide art and writing lessons uninterruptedly, the studio will be using the online platform “Google Hangouts” to conduct regularly scheduled classes.
In order to participate in these lessons, each student will need to use a google account (gmail) and an electronic device (phone, tablet, computer, etc.) that can access the internet. “Google Hangouts” can be accessed via its app that may be downloaded through the App Store or used online. If you are not using an apple device, you will need to access “Google Hangouts” using the Google Chrome browser.
All art and writing materials will be provided to the students for this period and will be available for pickup at the studio for one day only: Sunday, March 15th, from 2:00-4:00 P.M. Digital art students will not have a physical folder to pick up; all of their assignments will be online. All other students will have projects and supplies to pick up at the studio.
This coming week (March 16th-19th) will be our trial run for these online classes where each class will complete a mock call through “Google Hangouts” to work through all issues and confusion that may arise. The following week (March 23rd-26th) will resume regular classes in the new online format.
Summer classes will be posted on the website this coming week (March 16th-19th) and a text will be sent to all parents notifying of their posting, along with instructions on how to register while the studio is temporarily closed.
If you have any questions about this temporary method of teaching or “Google Hangouts,” please feel free to contact Mrs. Tanya at 870-316-2635.
